Jaipur, June 24 (IANS) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday said the state government is committed to ensuring easy access to basic amenities and expanding civic infrastructure across Rajasthan, with a special focus on modernising Jaipur’s transportation and sanitation systems to meet future demands.

The Chief Minister also announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for Jaipur Metro Phase-II on July 4. He informed that work orders have already been issued for the Prahladpura–Pinjrapole Gaushala corridor of the project, which involves an investment of more than Rs 13,000 crore.

He said the metro expansion would play a crucial role in easing traffic congestion, reducing travel time and giving fresh momentum to Jaipur’s urban development.

Addressing a grand inauguration, foundation stone-laying and lease distribution ceremony at Sanganer Stadium, the Chief Minister dedicated and launched 1,538 development works worth approximately Rs 631 crore. He said these projects would strengthen and upgrade essential infrastructure, including roads, water supply and electricity services, while improving the quality of life for citizens.

“The state government is working with full commitment for the welfare and development of all eight crore people of Rajasthan. Our priority is to ensure that the benefits of development reach every citizen,” Sharma said.

CM Sharma noted that over the past 12 years, PM Modi has transformed Indian cities into engines of growth through initiatives such as the Smart Cities Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), PM SVANidhi, AMRUT and the Swachh Bharat Mission, which have significantly improved urban infrastructure and public services.

Highlighting key projects launched in Jaipur, the Chief Minister said foundation stones were laid for a flyover at Muhana Mod on the Jaipur-Bhilwara Road, a sewerage treatment plant in Bambala costing over Rs 88 crore, a satellite hospital in Prithviraj Nagar, a trauma centre in Bhankrota, and restoration and beautification works at 115 temples in Sanganer.

He added that several flagship projects, including the Unity Mall, Riddhi-Siddhi Flyover, Sanganer Elevated Road and the Dravyavati River development project, are progressing rapidly.

“Our government is moving forward on the principle of ‘Vikaas Bhi Virasat Bhi’, ensuring modern infrastructure while preserving Rajasthan’s rich cultural legacy,” he said.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to making Jaipur cleaner and more efficient, Sharma announced the deployment of five state-of-the-art mechanical garbage-picker machines, the first such initiative in Rajasthan.

The machines will help collect waste from footpaths, narrow lanes and hard-to-reach areas, including beneath transformers, significantly improving urban sanitation management.

While distributing ownership cards to beneficiaries, the Chief Minister said the Swamitva (Ownership) Scheme is proving transformative by providing villagers with legal ownership rights through drone-based mapping of residential properties.

He informed that nearly 14 lakh ownership cards have been distributed following drone surveys conducted in more than 8,000 villages across Rajasthan.

During the event, the Chief Minister flagged off a Super Sucker machine for sewer-cleaning operations and awareness vehicles for Swachh Survekshan 2026. He also distributed prize cheques to winners of the Swachh Seva Marathon.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Urban Development and Local Self-Government Jhabar Singh Kharra, Member of Parliament Manju Sharma, public representatives, senior officials and a large number of citizens attended the programme.
