Chandigarh, June 21 (IANS) The 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 was celebrated on the premises of the Punjab and Haryana High Court here under the aegis of Acting Chief Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra amidst the presence of Justice Harsimran Singh Sethi and other judges.
The judges, members of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, and officers and officials of the High Court participated enthusiastically in the programme and performed various yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation exercises. On the occasion, experts apprised the participants of the immense benefits of yoga as a priceless gift of India’s ancient heritage.
The trainers highlighted that yoga contributes significantly to physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional balance and holistic development. Regular practice of yoga enhances flexibility, strength, concentration and immunity, while also helping in stress management and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Participants were encouraged to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily routine to achieve harmony between the body, mind and spirit.
Addressing the gathering, it was emphasised that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a way of life that fosters inner peace, self-discipline and a deeper sense of connectedness with society and nature.
In today’s fast-paced and demanding environment, yoga serves as an effective tool for maintaining physical and mental health and for cultivating resilience in the face of daily challenges.
International Day of Yoga is observed every year on June 21 across the globe. This year too, the day was celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the country with the objective of spreading awareness about the importance of yoga and encouraging people to embrace it as a means of achieving a healthier and more balanced life.
The observance of International Day of Yoga 2026 at the Punjab and Haryana High Court reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting health, wellness and public well-being through the practice of yoga.
