Surfers who have been scratching around all Christmas for a decent wave have nothing to look forward to in the way of a swell increase over the coming day and really nothing as yet on the horizon.
Ms Yuasa said a weak south-easterly change over the weekend would do little to relieve the summer wave drought.
The maximum temperature today would hit 29 degrees on what dawned as a partly-cloudy day with 40 per cent chance of showers this morning with winds light before increasing to 15-25 km/h from the east and then fading later in the day.
Saturday is set for a 32 degree maximum on another steamy, partly-cloudy day with only a 30 per cent chance of some rain in the evening. Winds that will be light early will then increase from the north west at 15-20 km/h early and then to the north at a stiffer 25-35 km/h.
Sunday would hit a temperature peak of 31 degrees on a hot, humid day that threatens to deliver showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon and evening. Winds that would reach 15-25 km/h from the north west during the night into Sunday morning were then expected to be light through New Year’s Eve morning.
Heavy rain in places New Year’s Day would begin with showers in the morning leading into the afternoon followed by thunderstorms into the evening on a day when temperatures would peak at 29 degrees.
Temperatures would begin to fall from Tuesday onward however the chance of rain would remain above 50 per cent through until at least Friday on current forecasts.
