Jaipur, June 23 (IANS) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma participated in a high-level meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday regarding the implementation of the Yamuna Water Project.

Union Minister for Jal Shakti C.R. Patil and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the meeting.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various aspects of the project, and the key provisions of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) were finalised. Matters related to the Kishau Dam Project were also discussed.

Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, efforts are being made to strengthen water resource management through greater coordination among states. He stated that the Yamuna Water Project is being advanced with a long-term and sustainable approach.

Patil said the project proposes the transportation of water through a pipeline network instead of conventional canals, which will help conserve water while expanding the distribution system. He added that issues related to the six states associated with the Kishau Dam Project have been resolved, and the MoA for the project will be signed soon.

The Union Minister stated that the Kishau Dam Project will benefit Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and other participating states and will contribute to resolving future water-related challenges.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said the Yamuna Water Project is of great importance for Rajasthan, particularly the Shekhawati region. He stated that the project will play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the region and improve the quality of life of lakhs of people.

The Chief Minister said the State Government is committed to implementing the project on the ground at the earliest with the cooperation of the Central Government and the Haryana Government. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, long-pending projects are gaining momentum and positive solutions to inter-state water issues are being achieved.

Sharma said the implementation of the project will enable Rajasthan to receive its due share of Yamuna water, benefiting farmers, industries and the general public while strengthening water management across the state.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, state governments are working with commitment to ensure access to water for every citizen.

He stated that the Renuka, Lakhwar and Kishau projects will benefit the people of Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi.

Discussions were also held on rainwater conservation and the transportation of water to Rajasthan.

Senior officials of the Government of India, the Rajasthan Water Resources Department and the Haryana Government were present in the meeting.
