Jaipur, June 16 (IANS) The Rajasthan government on Tuesday highlighted the growing impact of the Centre’s e-Shram Portal, describing it as a major step towards extending social security benefits to workers in the unorganised sector.

Launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on August 26, 2021, the e-Shram Portal aims to create a comprehensive national database of unorganised workers and facilitate their access to welfare schemes through a Universal Account Number (UAN).

According to official data, Rajasthan has recorded 1,54,50,294 registrations on the portal so far.

Of these, 82,40,291 are women and 72,09,896 are men, with women accounting for 53.33 per cent of total registrations.

The initiative is being implemented actively in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, with officials attributing the high registration numbers to increased awareness among workers about the portal and its benefits.

Sector-wise data shows that the agricultural sector accounts for the highest number of registrations in Rajasthan, with 85,99,316 workers enrolled on the portal.

The construction sector follows with 24,29,179 workers, while the textile and apparel sector has registered 8,02,650 workers.

The figures underline the significant participation of workers from key sectors of the state’s economy and reflect the portal’s growing reach among the unorganised workforce.

The registration process has witnessed strong participation through self-enrolment.

Official figures show that 1,02,27,852 workers registered themselves online.

Another 51,62,175 workers enrolled through Common Service Centres (CSCs), while others used State Service Centres, the UMANG platform and other channels.

To improve access to welfare programmes, a ‘One-Stop-Solution’ was introduced on the e-Shram portal on October 21, 2024, integrating multiple social security and welfare schemes on a single platform.

Registered workers can access information and benefits related to schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) and the Public Distribution System, among others.

The portal also connects workers with employment, skill development and self-employment initiatives, including Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, PM SVANidhi, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme.

The e-Shram Portal allows any unorganised sector worker aged between 16 to 59 years, who is not covered under Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation or the government-funded National Pension System, to register using Aadhaar and a mobile number.

Free registration facilities are available through Common Service Centres and State Service Centres, while workers can also access services through the Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) app.

Officials said the initiative is helping strengthen social security coverage and ensuring that welfare benefits reach workers in the unorganised sector more effectively, in line with the Union government’s objective of inclusive development and ‘Antyodaya’ — the upliftment of the last person in society.
