Jaipur, June 16 (IANS) Rajasthan Intelligence has arrested a 26-year-old man from Jaisalmer on charges of allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence handlers. The arrest was made under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, following an investigation into suspected espionage-related activities, officials said on Tuesday.

Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Praful Kumar said the arrest followed sustained surveillance of suspected espionage activities in the border State.

The accused, identified as Mustaq Ali, son of Nabi Bakhsh and a resident of Hingol village in the Nachna police station limits of Jaisalmer district, had come under the scanner after intelligence inputs indicated that his activities were suspicious.

According to officials, a joint interrogation conducted by multiple intelligence agencies at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur, along with analysis of data recovered from his mobile phone, revealed that the suspect had allegedly been in regular contact with Pakistani intelligence handlers through social media for nearly two years.

Investigators claimed that the accused was tasked with monitoring the movement of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Army in areas near the international border.

To facilitate this, he allegedly operated a shop along a key road leading towards the border and shared photographs and videos of troop movements with his handlers. Officials further alleged that the accused collected and transmitted other information that could have implications for national security in exchange for money.

Based on the investigation’s findings, Rajasthan Intelligence registered a case under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and arrested the accused on June 16, 2026. Further investigation is underway.
