Jaipur, May 7 (IANS) The second edition of the Joint Commanders’ Conference, themed ‘Military Capability in New Domains’, will start on Thursday in Jaipur and continue till Friday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan will grace the conference, which assumes added significance as it coincides with the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, a landmark tri-service operation that stands as a testament to India’s unwavering political will and military resolve, marked by surgical precision.

Modern warfare is evolving into an increasingly complex and technology-driven paradigm, shaped by the transformative impact of artificial intelligence, the development of unmanned systems, and emerging threats that extend beyond traditional battlefields into invisible frontiers. The conference will serve as a key forum to assess challenges in the emerging domains of cyber, space, and cognitive warfare, and to chart a roadmap for capability development aimed at building a resilient, future-ready force with a decisive edge.

A central focus of the discussions will be accelerating indigenisation and Aatmanirbharta in defence production by fostering a robust domestic ecosystem of innovation and civil-military fusion. The conference will also feature demonstrations of futuristic applications developed in-house, along with the release of new doctrines related to future warfare concepts and operational strategies.

As part of the celebrations, a special film based on Operation Sindoor will be released during the event. Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian armed forces against Pakistan a year ago. Rajasthan played a crucial role in the operation because of its long international border with Pakistan, the presence of key military installations, and the strategic importance of its border districts.

Owing to this significance, Jaipur was chosen as the venue for the first anniversary celebrations.

According to official accounts, the Indian Air Force carried out precision airstrikes at around 1:05 a.m. on May 7, targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation reportedly lasted around 25 minutes and targeted nine terrorist camps across seven locations. Shortly after the strikes, the Army shared an official message on social media stating, “Justice has been done”. Jaipur had earlier hosted the Army Day Parade on January 15 this year.

Held on Mahal Road in Jagatpura, it marked the first time the parade was organised outside a traditional Army cantonment area and opened for public viewing. The parade featured tanks, missile systems, and demonstrations of the Army’s modern combat capabilities.
