Patna, July 16 (IANS) Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and party spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari on Thursday resigned from all his organisational posts, alleging that dedicated party workers are no longer respected within the party.
Announcing his resignation, Tiwari accused the party leadership of ignoring the concerns of loyal members and claimed that repeated attempts to raise internal issues went unaddressed.
He said that he had voiced his concerns before State RJD President Mangani Lal Mandal and other senior office-bearers, but received no response.
He also alleged that Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav also did not take cognisance of his grievances.
“No one can continue in politics while facing constant humiliation. We stood by the Rashtriya Janata Dal even during its most difficult times. (RJD supremo) Lalu Prasad Yadav trusted me and entrusted me with the responsibilities of party’s spokesperson and media in-charge. I fulfilled those responsibilities with complete dedication and always presented the party’s policies before the people,” Tiwari said.
In a sharp criticism of the party’s internal functioning, the RJD spokesperson alleged that certain individuals within the organisation have weakened it from within.
“Some people have hollowed out the party like termites, and today Tejashwi Yadav is surrounded by such individuals. In such an atmosphere, it is not appropriate for dedicated workers like us to remain in the party,” he said.
Citing these circumstances, Tiwari announced that he was resigning from all positions he held in the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
Mrityunjay Tiwari has long been one of the RJD’s prominent public faces, frequently defending the party’s positions in the media and participating in political debates.
As of now, he has not announced whether he will join any other political party or continue his political career in another capacity.
His resignation comes at a politically significant time in Bihar, where parties are actively preparing for upcoming electoral contests, and it may trigger fresh speculation about possible realignments within the state’s political landscape.
Commenting on the talk of Mrityunjay Tiwari’s resignation, State RJD President Mandal said that he is a highly influential party worker.
“He has complete faith, reverence, and trust in Lalu-ji and Tejashwi Yadav. Why, then, would he resign? Grievances can be resolved, and this one will be too; it is not a major issue,” Mandal added.
