Patna, June 11 (IANS) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav received birthday greetings from leaders and party workers across the country on Thursday on the occasion of his 79th birthday, while the celebrations were marked by enthusiasm, with party workers gathering outside his residence since midnight to mark the occasion.

A large number of RJD supporters assembled outside the Rabri residence in Patna to celebrate the veteran leader’s birthday. The workers arrived with roses, cut cakes, and participated in the celebrations accompanied by a band. During the festivities, supporters hailed Lalu Prasad Yadav as the “messiah of the poor”.

Several party workers expressed their admiration, stating that they had gathered to celebrate the birthday of Lalu Prasad Yadav, whom they described as a guardian figure for them. They said he had given voice, rights, and representation to the poor. Another supporter said it was a day of joy for the RJD family, adding that Lalu Prasad Yadav had become the voice of the poor and farmers and that they wished him longevity so he could continue his political struggle.

RJD State President Mangani Lal Mandal and party MLA Bhai Virendra also visited the residence of Lalu Prasad’s wife and former Chief Minister, Rabri Devi, to extend their greetings.

“Today is a day of joy and celebration. We extend our heartfelt wishes and pray for his long and healthy life. He has been guiding us in the fight for social justice, and we look forward to his continued leadership and inspiration,” Mandal said.

Bhai Virendra said: “Today, not only in Bihar but across the country, the birthday of Lalu Prasad Yadav, regarded as a voice of the poor and marginalised, is being celebrated.”

Meanwhile, JD-U national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad also extended greetings, saying, “Many congratulations to him on his birthday. May Lalu Yadav live a long life and continue to guide his party in the right direction to serve the people. This is our collective wish.”

Janshakti Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav also shared an emotional message on social media, congratulating his father on his birthday. He wrote that he considers himself fortunate to be his son, adding that Lalu Prasad Yadav not only gave him life but also taught him the right way to live. He further described him as not just a father but also a great leader, an inspiring personality, and a guiding force in his life.
