Guna, Jun 28 (IANS) Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, inaugurated the Jeeto Badminton Academy in Guna to boost local sports infrastructure and provide professional training facilities to youth in the region.

Scindia played badminton with children for some time during the inauguration of the badminton academy in Guna

Minister Scindia also inaugurated a 4.5 MW solar power plant at Ruthiyai built under the PM-KUSUM scheme, and performed a bhoomi pujan for the restoration of the Ram-Janaki temple in Patai village.

He flagged off the new Bina-Guna-Indore MEMU train service from the Guna Railway Station to improve regional rail connectivity.

As part of his visit, Scindia held public grievance meetings and planted 700 saplings in Kanza village, the origin point of the Kuno River (also referred to as Coono River), under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

Before the inauguration of the Jeeto Badminton Academy, he also launched the ambitious “Kuno River Revival Project,” worth Rs 43 crore.

Addressing the district-level closing ceremony of the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan as the chief guest, Scindia emphasised the critical link between nature and human survival.

“Earth and nature are the only possible source of human survival,” he said, underscoring the vision behind PM Modi’s tree-planting campaign.

Over 1,700 saplings have already been planted at the river’s source as part of the drive aiming for 2,500 trees.

After arriving in Guna, Scindia met with local residents at the Circuit House, where he personally received applications addressing their grievances.

On Saturday, Scindia had inaugurated a solar power plant at Ruthiyai and performed the bhoomi pujan for the renovation of the ancient Ram-Janaki Temple in Patai village, blending modern development with cultural preservation.

Scindia is on a three-day visit to Guna.
