New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) After the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination citing alleged malpractice, Shiv Sena-UBT leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Tuesday claimed that a “syndicate” and a “broker system” is responsible for the “paper leaks”.
In a video message posted on social media platform X, Chaturvedi said: “There is a paper leak syndicate, a broker system that has been made, which functions unafraid under this (Narendra Modi-led BJP) government.”
She accused the BJP-led Centre of not taking any accountability, adding that “this is extremely shameful”.
The former MP raised concerns about the mental situation of the lakhs of students who had appeared for the exam.
“After putting in hours of hard work the students have been told their exam stands null and void. Now they have to go through that grind again to prepare for the exam,” Chaturvedi said.
The Shiv Sena-UBT leader also added: “What would be the parents of those students going through who put in so much of efforts in order to fulfill the dreams of their children.”
Referring to the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination held in 2024, Chaturvedi said: “This is the same government and same Education Minister (Dharmendra Pradhan) under whom paper leak had taken place then too.”
She claimed that during the 2024 NEET paper leak incident, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said that a seven-member committee will be made to further strengthen the NTA.
“I want to ask what was the report of the investigation and what was the result of the committee formation? How did the government ensure accountability?” the former MP said.
She asked that till when will such incidents keep on happening playing with the future of the students.
Moreover, Chaturvedi highlighted that measures should be taken first-hand so that it does not have to reach till punishment.
“Why does the government not take prevention so that such incidents don’t get repeated,” she said.
She noted that the youth of the country today are suffering in two ways: “unemployment and paper leaks”.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that the youth is the future of our country and they will take the nation towards ‘golden age’. Today, that same youth is asking the government that why are their futures being put at stake,” Chaturvedi said.
“Why is punishment being discussed and not prevention,” she added.
She urged the Central government to ensure some kind of accountability and catch those responsible for such misdeeds.
“I hope that there will be a crackdown on the syndicate that runs from the examiner to coaching classes to those who are involved in leaking exam papers,” she said.
