Shots have been fired and two men have been arrested as part of a dramatic police operation at Sydney’s Centennial Park.
The raid, believed to be related to a drug trafficking operation, began shortly before midday on Wednesday, a spokeswoman for NSW Police Media said.
Local man, Colin Flynn, who was walking his dog in Centennial Park at the time of the operation said he noticed two vans, which “looked like there was going to be some sort of transfer between them.”
Mr Flynn described the situation as “very surreal” and said he had seen two men in fluoro vests lying face down on the grass in handcuffs.
One of the raided vans, a white Toyota with ‘Thrifty’ branding, has four bullet holes in the windscreen.
The operation was launched by the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad.
