Son of a foreign woman cannot be fit to rule: Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur

Bhopal, Jan 23 (IANS) BJP leader and former MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on Friday said that the son of a foreign woman is not fit to rule, a remark that can spark political controversy.

Speaking to IANS, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur said, “In our society, in our country, what can I say. Chanakya, such a great thinker, said something that cannot be untrue. He said the son of a foreign woman cannot be fit to rule.”

She further explained her statement, saying, “A true patriot, capable of governance, must naturally come from our own lineage. Therefore, this statement cannot be considered false, nor should it be denied to future generations. That is its meaning.”

Targeting the Congress, the former MP said the party lacked ideological clarity. “Congress members do not have any ideology. They are suffering now because of their deeds and whatever they did in the past. Therefore, I say there is no credibility in their words,” she told IANS.

Continuing her criticism, Thakur added, “Someone who calls saffron terrorism, who labels Hindus as terrorists, I do not accept anything from that person. Their character is completely different and wrong. They sometimes praise RSS, sometimes they attack it, as is obvious from the book on 26/11 attacks in which they called the RSS terrorists and murderers, claiming it was an RSS conspiracy.”

She asserted that such statements held no significance. “The words of that person have no importance; they are not credible anywhere. Therefore, such statements have no meaning. No matter what anyone says, if it has no certainty, it holds no value,” she said.

On religious issues, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur said, “There is no other religion; religion is only Sanatan. This Sanatan religion has been attacked. There are other beliefs and sects, but religion is only one — that is, Sanatan. Therefore, we should never accept any other religion.”

Referring to recent developments related to religious disputes in Bhojshala in Dhar district, she said that even after many years of independence, compromises are still happening.

“We should not have to compromise anymore. However, I will say this for the Supreme Court: we accept your arrangements, but we need a permanent solution. We want uninterrupted darshan, and there should be no other activities around our temples,” she added.

The Supreme Court on Thursday issued directions to ensure that Basant Panchami poojas and Friday Juma Namaz are both held peacefully at the Bhoj Shala–Kamal Maula complex in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, where a dispute exists between two communities over the religious character of the structure.
