Perth, June 4 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

A cultural event titled Rabindranath Tagore o Bidrohi Kabi Utsav – 2025 was held at the Indian Consulate in Perth on May 16, jointly organised by the Consulate and the Bengali Association of Western Australia.

The festival celebrated the literary and cultural legacies of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and revolutionary poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The program drew more than 100 attendees from the local community and featured a range of performances including poetry, music, and commentary.

Distinguished guests at the event included Senator Varun Ghosh, MLC Parwinder Kaur, Councillors Tarun Dewan and Keyur Kamdar, and Deepak Sharma, president of the Indian Society of Western Australia.

The evening offered insights into the enduring relevance of Tagore’s philosophy and Nazrul’s poetry of resistance. Participants reflected on how the works of these two literary giants continue to inspire generations across the globe.

Organisers said the celebration aimed to deepen cultural appreciation and strengthen community bonds through literature and the arts.
