Hyderabad, April 3 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Friday that his government aims to transform the state into the textile capital of South Asia by 2047.

Revanth Reddy assured the investors in the textile sector that the government will provide them with infrastructure, land, power, water, and incentives, along with expedited approvals.

Addressing the Asian Textile Conference 2026 here, he said that his goal is to ensure that garments made in Telangana are worn in every country across the globe.

He claimed that Telangana’s policies are on par with global standards. “Our greatest strength lies in our exceptional human resources. If you have the vision, we are the ideal partners for you. Together, let us build a complete textiles ecosystem capable of transforming the world,” he said.

He noted that Telangana was collaborating across a wide spectrum, from the cotton fields of Telangana to the fashion runways of London, New York, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and Dubai.

The Chief Minister said that Hyderabad is emerging as a hub for film production not just for India, but for the entire world and pointed out that Netflix recently launched its Eyeline Studios here.

“Tollywood and Bollywood already utilise Hyderabad as their base—and now, Hollywood has joined their ranks. We will encourage the film industry to source its fashion requirements directly from Telangana,” he said.

Stating that environmental protection is the government’s utmost priority, he said green textile hubs will be developed in the state.

“We will provide training to the youth—particularly women—enabling them to blend traditional concepts with modern tools in the fields of design, cutting, and stitching,” he said.

He told the participants that India possesses a magnificent history of crafting exquisite textiles. For centuries, art, culture, and tradition have played a pivotal role in shaping and perfecting the textile landscape.

“Textiles are woven into Telangana’s DNA. During the era of the Nizams, merchants from every corner of the globe would flock to Hyderabad to procure textiles and pearls. Our region is home to a rich diversity of textile traditions – ranging from the renowned Pochampally Ikat and Gadwal sarees to the Warangal Durries and Narayanpet handlooms,” he said.

The Chief Minister claimed that there are historical imperatives that position Telangana at the forefront of the textile sector.

He pointed out that Telangana stands as the leading state in India in terms of cotton production. The superior quality of Telangana cotton has earned global acclaim.

“We have established the world-class Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal—a sprawling complex that encompasses numerous apparel parks. Telangana possesses both the skill and the resolve,” he added.

Asserting that Telangana is at the forefront of numerous sectors, including deep tech, pharma, life sciences, aerospace, defence manufacturing, and energy, he said that Telangana’s vision is to evolve into a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034, and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047.
