Hyderabad, June 9 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday paid rich tributes to Koduru Anuroop Reddy, who lost his life while saving the lives of three friends in the United States recently.

He described this extremely tragic incident as heartbreaking.

On behalf of the Telangana government and the people, the Chief Minister extended his deepest condolences to Anuroop’s parents, his brother Ashrit Reddy, and family members. He prayed to God for peace for Anuroop’s soul.

In a letter of commendation sent to them, the Chief Minister stated that the government would stand by the family during this profound sorrow.

He noted that the news of Anuroop’s tragic death, which occurred on May 29, at the Toro Bayou Park in the US state of Louisiana, has left all deeply shocked. At just 23 years of age, Anuroop, with a promising career and a bright future ahead of him, demonstrated exemplary courage, selflessness, and valour that stand as an inspiration to all, he said.

“When faced with a critical situation where three of his friends were in imminent danger of drowning, Anuroop did not hesitate. Without regard for his own safety, he plunged into the waters and successfully rescued his friends. While his heroic actions ensured they survived, it is our deepest misfortune that the cruel currents of destiny took him away from us,” he wrote in the letter.

The Chief Minister stated that Anuroop’s act of supreme sacrifice embodies the highest values of human compassion and bravery. He has left an indelible mark of honour upon his homeland, Telangana.

He said that the human values, compassion, and courage displayed by Anuroop on that occasion are a testament to the highest sacrifice.

Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, along with a few MLAs, visited the student’s home and paid tributes to Anuroop’s mortal remains. They consoled the family members.

Anuroop, a native of Abdullapurmet on the outskirts of Hyderabad, had recently completed his master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of North Texas (UNT).
