Hyderabad, July 3 (IANS) Telangana’s Director General of Police C. V. Anand on Friday directed the police force to give top priority to visible and effective policing to enhance public confidence and strengthen police-public relations.

He chaired a high-level review meeting with Unit Officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) from across the State at the DGP Office, Hyderabad. The meeting focused on strengthening people-centric policing through greater use of technology and enhancing the efficiency of police services.

He directed all officers to remain accessible to the public and regularly visit police stations under their jurisdiction to assess law and order, crime detection, investigation quality, implementation of policing practices and local public issues. He said field visits enable officers to identify ground-level problems and ensure prompt corrective measures.

The DGP instructed that visiting hours at police stations should be strictly followed and emphasised that officers should function from their offices instead of camp offices, ensuring greater accessibility and accountability.

He cautioned that complaints regarding the conduct of some police personnel must be addressed seriously and instructed all officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism. He also directed that police should not unnecessarily involve themselves in civil disputes, particularly land-related issues, and should closely monitor misinformation and rumours circulating on social media.

The DGP reviewed the implementation and progress of key policing initiatives, including CCTNS, visible policing, field visits, police station inspections, vehicle checking, narcotics and ganja control, cyber crime investigation, road safety, crime detection and overall policing standards.

Highlighting the importance of technology in modern policing, the DGP instructed officers to make optimum use of CCTNS, e-Sakshya, ICJS application and other digital platforms. He directed SHOs to upload all relevant digital evidence to the e-Sakshya portal immediately after FIR registration to ensure efficient investigation and prosecution.

DGP Anand informed that nearly 60–70 per cent of CCTNS data updating has been completed across the State. Adilabad, Rajanna Sircilla and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts were appreciated for their performance in CCTNS implementation.

With cybercrime accounting for nearly 70 per cent of crimes registered in the four Hyderabad Commissionerates, the DGP instructed officers to expedite registration and investigation of cybercrime cases. He emphasised continuous capacity building and specialised training for police personnel to keep pace with emerging cyber threats.

The DGP reiterated that eliminating narcotics and ganja is one of the Telangana Police’s highest priorities. He directed all district police units to intensify anti-narcotics operations and protect the youth from drug abuse. Educational institutions were advised to actively implement Anti-Drug and Safety Committees.

Appreciating the efforts of the EAGLE wing, he noted that awareness programmes, counselling and rehabilitation support have so far been extended to 825 students as part of the anti-drug initiative.

The DGP observed that the State’s “Arrive Alive” road safety initiative has yielded encouraging results, leading to a reduction in road accident fatalities across Telangana. He instructed officers to intensify road safety enforcement, strengthen vehicle checking and improve emergency response systems.

He told the meeting that drone technology will be integrated soon with the Dial-112 emergency response system to enhance operational efficiency.
