Hyderabad, July 7 (IANS) In a shocking act, a woman in Telangana’s Nizamabad district allegedly killed her husband by injecting toilet cleaner into his veins through a cannula while he was undergoing treatment after surviving an earlier murder attempt, police said.

Police arrested Sandhya, who along with her alleged lover Anil and his friend Venkat Sai alias Bunty, killed her husband, Dayini Prashanth (35), by injecting toilet cleaning liquid and crushed sleeping pills into his intravenous (IV) line on June 30.

The police cracked the case after thorough investigation following a complaint by the victim’s mother, who raised suspicion about the cause of his death.

Prashanth, who had been working in the Gulf for the past two years, returned on June 27 and decided not to go back abroad.

Sandhya (32) saw him as an obstacle to continue her extramarital relationship with Anil (35).

The woman, who works as a nurse at a private hospital, hatched a conspiracy with the help of Anil and his friend Sai to eliminate her husband.

The investigation also revealed that Sandhya killed her husband after an earlier attempt to eliminate him after pushing him off the terrace failed.

According to police, Sai went to the residence of Prashant on June 29 and made him consume a lot of liquor. Then, he took Prashant to the terrace of the building and pushed him as per the instructions of Sandhya over the phone.

However, Prashant survived with serious injuries. The accused allegedly convinced Prashant that he had accidentally fallen because he was drunk and got him admitted to a government hospital for treatment. They later shifted him to a private hospital and subsequently brought him home.

As Sandhya had undergone nurse training in the past, she was administering IV fluids at home. Under a conspiracy hatched by the trio, Sandhya injected a toxic mixture of toilet cleaner and crushed sleeping pills through a cannula. Sandhya also pushed him down from the cot, which led to his death.

The woman tried to pass off her husband’s death as a result of his deteriorating health following his fall from the terrace.

Prashant’s mother, who lives separately, lodged a complaint with the police, expressing doubts over the cause of his death. She told police that she was not even aware of her son’s visit to his home and the events preceding his death.

Police produced the three accused before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
