New Delhi, May 13 (IANS) At least three people, including a minor girl, were killed and four others sustained serious injuries after a speeding vehicle rammed into a passenger auto travelling towards the Singhu Border on NH-44 in Delhi’s Alipur area on Wednesday morning, according to the police.

The accident took place near Shiv Mandir in Alipur, triggering panic in the area. Police personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the collision and shifted the injured passengers to nearby hospitals for treatment.

According to officials, the auto was carrying several people when the speeding vehicle crashed into it with force.

During medical examination, three persons, including auto driver Raju Sharma, a minor girl and an unidentified individual, were declared “brought dead” at the hospital.

Police said the remaining injured persons were identified as Mukesh, his wife Pinki, Chotu Pandit and a minor boy, while treatment of the other injured passengers is currently underway.

Officials stated that the injured suffered serious wounds in the collision and are undergoing medical care at a nearby hospital.

The injured were first admitted to the Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Delhi. After this, they were referred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital for further treatment.

The condition of some of the injured is reported to be critical.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the crash.

Authorities are also examining the role of the speeding vehicle involved in the accident.

“Legal action is being taken as per law, and further investigation is in progress,” police said.

The incident led to a temporary disruption of traffic movement on the busy NH-44 stretch as police and emergency response teams carried out rescue operations and cleared the damaged vehicles from the road, officials said.

Investigation is underway, and further details are awaited.
