Patna, May 8 (IANS) A devastating road accident on Friday claimed the lives of three people and left six others seriously injured in Bihar’s Saran after a speeding truck collided head-on with a pickup vehicle on NH-531 under the jurisdiction of the Daudpur police station area.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. All the victims were artists and crew members associated with an orchestra based in Khaira Bazaar under the Khaira police station area.

The orchestra group was returning in a pickup vehicle after performing at a wedding ceremony in Siwan’s Chainpur area.

While travelling along NH-531 near Banwar Dhala in the Daudpur police station limits, their vehicle collided violently with a speeding truck approaching from the opposite direction.

Eyewitnesses stated that the collision was extremely severe. The pickup vehicle was completely mangled and was hurled nearly 15 feet away from the highway into a nearby field.

Hearing the loud crash, villagers from nearby areas rushed to the spot and immediately began rescue operations before police teams arrived.

After receiving information about the accident, the Dial 112 emergency response team reached the scene and rescued the injured passengers from the wreckage.

All injured victims were initially taken to the Ekma Community Health Centre for treatment.

Following preliminary treatment, critically injured victims were referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for advanced medical care.

Police officials stated that the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Chhapra Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The truck involved in the accident has been seized, and an investigation has been initiated.

According to preliminary findings, excessive speed and negligent driving are suspected to be the primary causes behind the collision.

The tragedy has left members of the orchestra group and the victims’ families devastated and triggered panic across the locality.

Local residents and orchestra associates have appealed to the administration to provide financial assistance and support the bereaved families.
