Three killed, three injured as car hits bike in Bihar’s Banka

Patna, April 4 (IANS) Three young men were killed and three others seriously injured in a high-speed collision between a car and a motorcycle on the Deoghar-Sultanganj main road in Bihar’s Banka district early Saturday morning, police said.

Raju Kumar, the SHO of Jalebiyamod police station, said that the accident took place around 6 a.m. near Bijjikheirwa village, under the jurisdiction of the Jalebiyamod Police Station in Banka district.

A high-speed collision between a car and a motorcycle claimed the lives of three young men on the spot, he said.

According to eyewitness accounts, both vehicles were traveling at dangerously high speeds, effectively turning the public road into a racetrack. The impact of the collision was so intense that the motorcycle was completely shattered, with its parts flung across the road.

The deceased — Surendra Sah, Rupesh Sah, and Baleshwar Sah — were all young men from the same extended family, residents of Babarjhop village. Their sudden deaths have plunged their families into deep mourning, extinguishing the hopes of three households in an instant.

On the other side of the tragedy, a family from Nagma village in Garhwa was on pilgrimage to Baba Dham in Deoghar when the accident occurred. Three individuals — including a woman — boarded a car and sustained serious injuries.

Local residents immediately rushed to help and transported the injured to a nearby hospital; due to the severity of their condition, they were later referred to Bhagalpur for advanced treatment.

The aftermath was chaotic and heart-wrenching — debris scattered across the road, cries of anguish from bystanders, and a temporary halt in traffic.

Police soon arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination while initiating further investigation.

This tragic incident once again underscores the deadly consequences of reckless driving and overspeeding. As the devastating news reached Babarjhop village, an atmosphere of unimaginable grief took hold.

The cries of bereaved families echoed through the lanes, and the thought of three funeral pyres being lit together cast a dark shadow over the entire community.
