Bhopal/Alirajur, April 19 (IANS) At least three teenagers were killed in a tragic road accident in Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh when an unidentified vehicle hit the bike they were riding.

The victims, all minors from farming families and school dropouts, were returning home from a friend’s marriage function late on Sunday night.

According to police officials, the deceased have been identified as Anil, 14, a resident of Devdha village; Roshan, 17, from Badi Beed; and Savan, 14, from Ratanpura. The accident occurred near Chulia village under the Bori police station area.

The three boys were riding the same motorcycle while their other friends followed on another bike. Two of the teenagers died on the spot due to the impact of the collision, while the third was rushed to a nearby hospital by his accompanying friends. Doctors there declared him brought dead.

The speeding unidentified vehicle hit their bike and fled the scene without stopping, leaving the victims critically injured, the police officials said.

The Bori police have registered a case of hit-and-run and launched an investigation to trace the offending vehicle.

Senior officers visited the spot and expressed condolences to the grieving families.

“This is a heartbreaking incident. We are examining all possible leads, including CCTV footage from nearby areas, to identify the vehicle and the driver responsible,” a police official said.

The families of the victims are devastated. Being from humble farming backgrounds, the boys were the hope of their households.

Police officials said they had gone to attend the wedding celebration at Chulia village and were looking forward to returning home safely. Local residents have appealed to the district administration to install speed breakers and improve illumination on the stretch near Chulia village to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the unidentified vehicle to come forward and assist in the investigation.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem, and further legal proceedings are underway. The entire Bori area was in mourning as the news of the three young lives lost spread rapidly through the villages.
