Bengaluru, May 25 (IANS) A three-year-old child who went missing in Bengaluru was safely rescued and reunited with the parents following swift action by the Bengaluru City Police, the police department said on Monday.
According to police, the incident was reported on May 24 at around 6.02 p.m. when a representative from a travels office contacted the Namma 112 Emergency Helpline and informed authorities that the child, who was travelling with the parents, had gone missing near the office premises.
Acting promptly on the alert, the Namma 112 control room informed the Hoysala-77 patrol unit attached to Upparpet Police Station. ASI Nagraja J and APC Balappa, who were on patrol duty at the time, immediately rushed to the spot and began a search operation after collecting details about the missing child.
Police said the personnel reached the location within 16 minutes of receiving the information and conducted an intensive search in the surrounding areas. Owing to the quick response and coordinated efforts, the child was traced within a short span of time.
After verifying the necessary details, the police safely handed over the child to the parents.
The incident has been appreciated as an example of effective emergency response and coordination by the Bengaluru City Police. Officials said the timely intervention helped prevent a distressing situation and reinforced public confidence in the Namma 112 emergency response system.
In another similar incident, an elderly woman found wandering in a confused state on Jogupalya Road under the jurisdiction of Halasuru Police Station was rescued and provided shelter following swift action by the Bengaluru City Police.
According to police, the incident took place on May 22 at around 10.43 p.m. when a member of the public contacted the Namma 112 Emergency Helpline after noticing the woman, aged around 80 to 85 years, appearing disoriented and in need of assistance.
Acting immediately on the alert, the Namma 112 control room informed the Hoysala-28 patrol unit attached to Halasuru Police Station. ASI Divakar and HC Palakshayya H.B., who were on duty at the time, rushed to the spot and reached the location within three minutes.
The police personnel interacted with the elderly woman in an attempt to ascertain her identity and trace her family members. However, due to memory-related issues, she was unable to provide complete details about herself or her relatives. Police said she could only identify herself as “Lakshmamma” and stated that she was 86 years old.
Considering her condition and safety, the police arranged for her admission to the Sparsha Destitute Care Home, where she could receive proper care, shelter and assistance.
Officials said the incident reflects the humanitarian approach adopted by the Bengaluru City Police in assisting senior citizens and vulnerable persons in distress. The timely response of the Hoysala patrol team ensured the elderly woman’s safety, dignity and well-being.
