BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Temple at Kingston, in association with the Logan City Council, organised a tree plantation drive on 13th July at the Mary Park, Kingston. The drive was part of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha’s initiative to organise tree-planting campaigns throughout the world.
About 25 volunteers from all age groups got together and put in 90 volunteer-hours to make this drive successful.
According to the organisers of this drive, these efforts give individuals the ability to be directly involved in improving their environment, and instill in them a sense of shared ownership of the planet at the individual and community levels. BAPS, being a socio-spiritual organisation, is at the forefront of the social responsibility and commitment to protect and enrich the environment globally.
Their purpose in organising such drives is to bring environmental awareness among the youth and also to develop the feeling of giving back to the community they live in.
