Bhopal, July 2 (IANS) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha arrived in Bhopal on Thursday for the 28th AOMSI Mid-Term Convention and the 14th AOMSI Postgraduate Convention (MIDCOMS 2026).

Saha, a distinguished oral and maxillofacial surgeon, is the chief guest at the three-day national conference that has drawn leading experts from India and abroad.

He was received by Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Rajendra Shukla, at his residence, where the two leaders discussed healthcare and medical education.

Dr Saha’s wife, Swapna Saha, was also present. Shukla said the convention would serve as an important platform for surgeons, researchers, medical teachers and postgraduate students to exchange ideas and learn about the latest developments in the specialty.

“Dr. Manik Saha is himself a distinguished oral and maxillofacial surgeon. His presence at this national convention will inspire young medical professionals and further strengthen academic exchange in the field. Such platforms are essential for promoting innovation and enhancing the quality of healthcare services,” Shukla said.

The convention is being jointly organised by the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI), Madhya Pradesh State Chapter, and People’s University, Bhopal, from July 2 to 4.

Held under the theme ‘Creating a Wholesome Surgeon,’ the event will feature deliberations on scientific research, advanced surgical techniques, complex clinical procedures and emerging trends in medical education.

Experts will present papers and conduct workshops on new practices in oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a focus on improving patient care through innovation.

The conference aims to foster collaboration among specialists and expose postgraduate students to evolving global standards in the field.

Organisers said the participation of senior surgeons and academicians would help bridge gaps between research and clinical application.

The event is expected to strengthen academic networks and promote adoption of modern surgical practices across institutions.
