Noida, May 19 (IANS) In a major operation related to the murder of a youth at Sector-63 Police Station in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, police arrested two accused following an encounter. During the exchange of fire, both accused sustained gunshot injuries, while two other accused, who are minors, were detained during a subsequent combing operation.

Police also recovered illegal firearms, cartridges, a knife, and two motorcycles from the possession of the accused.

According to police officials, on May 17, 20-year-old Deepak, son of Suraj Singh and a resident of Chotpur Colony, was attacked with knives by a group of youths over a monetary dispute. Deepak was admitted to a hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Following the incident, a case was immediately registered at Sector-63 Police Station. After the victim’s death, Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was added to the charges.

While investigating the case and attempting to apprehend the accused, the Sector-63 Police team was conducting a late-night checking drive on Sunday on the green belt service road leading from the Bahalolpur underpass towards FNG Road. During the operation, four youths riding two motorcycles were seen approaching the area.

Police signalled them to stop, but the accused allegedly turned their motorcycles around and attempted to flee. Suspecting foul play, the police team chased them.

According to police officials, when the accused realised they were surrounded, they allegedly opened fire on the police team with the intention to kill. The police retaliated in self-defence, during which two of the accused sustained gunshot injuries.

The injured accused have been identified as Aman, son of Veer Singh, a resident of Bulandshahr, and Sandeep Kumar, son of Sanjay Singh, also a resident of Bulandshahr. Both were reportedly living as tenants in Chotpur Colony.

Police said the injured accused were admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the two other accused involved in the incident were found to be juveniles in conflict with the law and were taken into custody during the combing operation.

From the possession of the accused, police recovered three illegal country-made pistols, two empty cartridges, four live cartridges, one knife, and two motorcycles allegedly used in the commission of the crime.

Police officials stated that further investigation into the case is underway, and efforts are being made to gather details regarding the criminal history of the accused.
