Fatehpur, July 7 (IANS) Incidents of alleged attacks on husbands in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district show no signs of abating. Following a sensational case in the Malwan police station area, where a wife allegedly doused her husband in petrol and set him on fire, another shocking incident has surfaced from the Aung police station area.

The latest case was reported from Parsadepur village under the Aung police station limits, where a woman has been accused of attempting to murder her husband. According to family members, the victim, Sanjeev Tiwari, works as a confectioner.

They alleged that when he returned home from work and entered the house, his wife, Ranno Devi, attacked him with a stick, striking him on the head. She then allegedly tied him to a cot, repeatedly assaulted him, and attempted to electrocute him by passing an electric current through his body.

Hearing the commotion, family members rushed to the room, forced open the door, and found Sanjeev tied to the cot with an electric wire wrapped around his body. They immediately removed the wire and rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. After receiving first aid, he was referred to the District Hospital and later shifted to Kanpur for advanced treatment. He is currently battling for his life.

On receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Officials said they are examining all aspects of the case and that further action will be taken after verifying the allegations and completing the enquiry.

The incident comes less than two weeks after another shocking case was reported on June 26 from Aswar Tarapur village under the Malwan police station area, where a woman allegedly poured petrol on her husband and set him ablaze, resulting in his death.

SP Abhimanyu Manglik stated that an incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Parasdevpur village under the jurisdiction of Aung Police Station.

The emergency service ‘112’ received information that a man, Sanjeev Tiwari, had allegedly been tied up, held captive, and assaulted by his wife the previous night. It was further alleged that she subjected him to electric shocks using a live wire.

Police reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. Sanjeev was taken to the hospital for treatment, where his statement was recorded.

After his condition improved, his brother lodged a formal complaint against the wife. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered, and the accused has been taken into custody.
