Chennai, May 10 (IANS) Elaborate arrangements are in place in Chennai for the swearing-in ceremony of actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President C. Joseph Vijay as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

The high-profile event has attracted political leaders, film personalities, industrialists, and senior dignitaries from across the country, prompting authorities to enforce massive security arrangements in and around the venue.

Chennai city police deployed heavy security, intensified vehicle checks and imposed strict access control measures around the stadium ahead of the ceremony.

Special seating arrangements were made for prominent guests attending the swearing-in function.

In the front row, seats were reserved for Vijay’s parents, veteran filmmaker S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shobha Chandrasekhar. Actor Trisha Krishnan and her mother were also allotted seats in the same row, drawing considerable attention from the media and fans gathered at the venue.

Before the ceremony began, Trisha was seen meeting and interacting warmly with Vijay’s mother, Shobha.

The interaction quickly became a talking point at the venue, with several attendees and television channels focusing on the moment. Trisha also spent time speaking with several actors and film personalities who had arrived for the event, creating a lively atmosphere inside the stadium. Several guests were seen taking photographs with the actress as excitement built up ahead of Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony.

Vijay’s elevation to the Chief Minister’s post comes after TVK emerged as the single largest party in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by winning 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly. Though the party fell short of the majority mark of 118 on its own, it later secured the support of the Congress, the CPI, the CPI-M, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

With the backing of alliance partners and outside support, the Vijay-led front crossed the magic number with the support of 120 MLAs, paving the way for the formation of the new government in Tamil Nadu. Along with Vijay, nine ministers are also expected to take the oath as members of the new cabinet.
