Bengaluru, June 13 (IANS) A 28-year-old woman was killed in a major road accident on the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway near Dodda Hullur on the outskirts of Bengaluru during the early hours of Saturday, while her male friend, who was driving, only suffered minor injuries, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Sajiya, a resident of PNT Colony near Arabic College in Bengaluru.

According to police, Sajiya had accompanied a male friend in his Mercedes-Benz car to Devanahalli for dinner on Friday night. After having dinner, the two were returning to Bengaluru when the accident occurred at around 12.45 a.m.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the luxury car was travelling at high speed when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, and it subsequently crashed into the road divider with great force.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the Mercedes-Benz was completely mangled. Sajiya, who was travelling in the car, died on the spot. Her friend, who was behind the wheel, however, escaped with only minor injuries.

Police said overspeeding and negligent driving appear to have been the likely causes of the accident, though the exact circumstances leading to the crash are yet to be established.

The incident has raised several questions, and investigators are examining all aspects of the case. Police are also reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage from the expressway and nearby areas, to reconstruct the sequence of events.

On receiving information about the accident, personnel from the Hosakote Police Station rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection and shifted the body to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

A 26-year-old delivery executive was killed after being hit by a speeding luxury car allegedly driven rashly by a student in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout during the early hours of December 27, 2025. The victim was identified as Santosh Doddagoudar, a native of Bailhongal in Belagavi district.
