Sydney, June 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney, together with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, celebrated International Day of Yoga 2026 in collaboration with Yoga Tribe at Rouse Hill, with support from the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
The programme began with a welcome address and the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising knowledge, harmony and collective enlightenment. A Bharatanatyam performance by the Natyokthi Dance School set a graceful and serene tone for the celebrations.
Participants then took part in a guided yoga session featuring asanas, pranayama and dhyana, reflecting the 2026 International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The session encouraged physical wellbeing, mental calmness and inner balance while bringing together people from diverse backgrounds.
The celebration concluded with conversations over satvik food, providing participants an opportunity to interact and strengthen community bonds. Organisers said the event reflected the spirit of cultural harmony, holistic wellbeing and the growing popularity of yoga across Australia, leaving participants inspired and energised.
