Brisbane, June 21 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
The Consulate General of India in Brisbane marked the International Day of Yoga 2025 (IDY 2025) with a dynamic and inclusive celebration at Queensland’s Government House, reflecting this year’s global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The event underscored yoga’s rising global impact as a healing and unifying tradition that transcends cultures.
Queensland Governor Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM graced the occasion as Chief Guest and actively participated in the yoga session, reinforcing the importance of mental and physical wellness. Her attendance for the second consecutive year added both prestige and continuity to the celebration. Also present were Jess Pugh MP for Mount Ommaney and Cr Penny Wolff, representing Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, who voiced their support for mindfulness, wellness, and community harmony.
A large and diverse group of attendees—from seasoned yoga practitioners to curious first-timers—came together in a guided session focused on resilience, balance, and inner peace. Their enthusiastic participation symbolised the far-reaching appeal of yoga as a holistic lifestyle.
Organised by the Consulate General of India, the event also featured representation from the Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) and multicultural community groups, highlighting the inclusive and collaborative spirit that yoga embodies. Their involvement emphasized yoga’s role in bridging cultural divides and promoting shared well-being.
The symbolic choice of Government House as the venue elevated the event’s significance, reflecting the deepening cultural connections between India and Australia. The overarching theme resonated strongly with attendees amid growing global awareness around sustainability and health.
In addition to being a celebration of physical discipline, the event became a wider expression of holistic living and cultural togetherness.
