A young man has been charged after a teenager was struck and killed by a four-wheel-drive in an alleged hit and run last night in rural Victoria.
Authorities said an 18-year-old Winchelsea man was riding a motorized bike with a friend on Atkins Road in Buckley – about 30km west of Geelong – last night when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
Police allege the 21-year-old driver of the 4WD fled the scene following the crash.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s not believed his friend was seriously injured.
The driver, who has not been named, was arrested at a nearby address a short time later.
He has since been charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after a collision and failing to render assistance.
He has been released on bail.
