‘Youth given SIT instead of IITs’: Akhilesh Yadav’s swipe at UP govt

Lucknow, June 16 (IANS) Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday took a jibe at the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led state government over the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged irregularities of monetary offerings at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.

Speaking to reporters, the SP Chief asked: “Who will investigate the SIT? Who will investigate the SIT which is probing the allegation?”

“In Uttar Pradesh, where the youth need jobs and good education, people were asking for IITs, but instead they have been given SIT,” he remarked.

The controversy had erupted following Akhilesh Yadav’s allegation that crores of rupees have been found missing from the offerings made at the Ram Mandir.

The SP Chief had sought judicial intervention in the matter.

Launching a harsh critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Akhilesh Yadav alleged: “The Bharatiya Janata Party has nothing to offer except major sins, corruption, irregularities, and scams. They have insulted Sanatan Dharma.”

“There have been allegations of misappropriation of temple offerings, irregularities in donations, and manipulation of land-related matters. How many more allegations will emerge? We hope that this narrative and these practices will no longer continue,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tapasvi Chavani seer Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya made a counter charge at the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi and SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, demanding their “narco-test”.

The Hindu saint said: “Till a narco test of Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav is not conducted, the complete truth won’t be revealed.”

Particularly targeting the SP Chief, Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya added: “Someone who (Akhilesh Yadav) has not paid a visit at the Ram Mandir, becomes the first one to know about missing offerings at the temple. That is why narco test should be conducted on them.”

Moreover, the Hindu saint went on to accuse the Lok Sabha LoP and SP Chief of having a role in the alleged irregularities of donations at Ram Mandir.

“A conspiracy was being hatched for a long time now and it was carried out through small-time workers. The latter (Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav) followed the instructions to carry out the crime,” Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya told IANS.
