The Tamil Association of Queensland (TAQ) commemorated its 40th anniversary with a cultural celebration at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane, highlighting the association’s longstanding contribution to the Tamil community in Queensland.
The programme featured performances by noted artists including playback singers Senthil Ganesh and Rajalakshmi, Padma Shri awardee Velu Aasaan, Kalaimamani T. Govindaraj, Kalaimamani Anushya Sree and Super Singer winner Nikhil.
Traditional Tamil arts and cultural presentations formed a major part of the celebrations, with performances featuring folk dance, Parai Isai and Karagaattam.
A fashion parade displaying traditional and cultural attire was also organised during the event.
Organisers said the anniversary programme celebrated 40 years of the association’s efforts in preserving and promoting Tamil language, culture and heritage since 1986.
