India’s Consul in Perth Naresh Kumar highlighted the expanding Australia-India partnership in science and technology while addressing the 24th IETE Australia International Symposium and Annual Day at Murdoch University.
The annual symposium brought together academics, engineers, researchers, industry experts and students to exchange ideas on emerging technologies, innovation and opportunities for international collaboration.
Among those attending the event were Professor Don Klinger, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Murdoch University, Katy Mair, Mayor of the City of Melville, and Patrick Hall, Mayor of the City of Canning. Around 90 participants attended the symposium in person and online from across Australia and overseas.
During his address, Kumar emphasised the growing cooperation between Australia and India in higher education, research, advanced technologies and skills development. He noted that stronger collaboration in these sectors would support innovation while deepening economic and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The symposium featured discussions on technological advances, research partnerships and innovation, with participants exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Australian and Indian institutions and promote greater knowledge sharing.
Organised by IETE Australia, the event reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration in engineering and technology while providing a platform for professional networking and closer engagement among researchers, industry leaders and technology professionals across the Indo-Pacific region.
