The Institute for Australia India Engagement (IAIE) celebrated a major milestone—5 years of its foundation anniversary, recently. Since its inception, IAIE has been at the forefront of fostering Australia-India institutional and policy dialogues to shape policy making. It has published articles to shape strategic thinking; nurtured community engagements with associations, Queensland police and the government to promote lasting relationships; mentored and trained students in research and leadership; held discussions with Australian and Indian government officials and political leaders to enrich Australia-India comprehensive strategic partnership across defence, policing, business, trade, energy, education, sports and many other areas of mutual interest.
Talking to Australia India News about Australia-India bilateral relations, CEO of IAIE, who is also the Editor-in-Chief of Australia India News, Dr Ashutosh Misra, said, “On behalf of the executive committee I express sincere gratitude towards all those who believed in our dream, idea and vision based on the fact that the deeper we (Australia and India) understand each other, the better we engage.”
IAIE’s efforts have been bolstered by many eminent personalities who have contributed in their unique ways towards making the Institute’s initiatives a great success. The IAIE board boasts of bigwigs such as Matthew Hayden (goodwill Ambassador to India), Dr Amy Illidge, Michael Sing, Muthuraj Guruswamy, Dr Shaun Star, Dr Jacqueline Drew and Dr Sarah Kelly; international panel of advisors, including Dr C Raj Kumar (VC Jindal Global University), Prof Priyankar Upadhyaya (UNESCO Chair), Dr Uttam Sinha and Dr Rajeev Nayan (MP-IDSA), Prof Nikos Passas (Northeastern University), Prof Srikanth Kondapalli (Jawaharlal Nehru University), Dr To-Hai Liou (NCCU, Taiwan), Dr Jack Anderson (University of Melbourne), and Dale Sheehan (former INTERPOL official).
To further boost its endeavours, IAIE has the contributions from Steven Illidge, Dr Ram Mohan, media advisor, Dr Amol Wagholikar, Sports and Wellness Director, Ashawani Soni, Youth Engagement Director, Kriti Bharadwaj, Energy and Resources Director, Varun Gupta, legal advisor, Ronak Shah, Accounts advisor, and website administer Manoj Singh.
Among the many guests who attended IAIE’s 5th foundation anniversary celebration, organized in the Champions Room, Allan Border Field, were Shayne Neumann MP, Terry Svenson, CEO Queensland Cricket, Dr Nik Senapati, president QLD AIBC, Wayne Clayton and Antonella, Raymond Atkinson and Bronwyn and Jason Saunders and Lisa (Queensland Police), Samir Vora and Deepa, Bronwyn Bartsch, Abhishek Sharma, Raman Sharma, Sachin Rabade, Harry Sathe, Amith Lohani, Syed Asghar Rizvi, Sameer and Amrita Deshpande, and Sweta Misra.
Dr Ram Mohan, Director of Star Promotions, who is also the Publisher of Australia India News, received a plaque from IAIE for supporting the organisation as media partner through the creative merchandise.
Also, Dr Mishra made a special mention of Anu Perera, saying, “She could not be with us but has been a very important part of IAIE’s journey, especially in building the Goodwill Cup.”
