Sydney, June 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, with support from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Ministry of AYUSH, partnered with the Art of Living Foundation Sydney to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga at Roselea Community Centre, Beecroft.
The programme was inaugurated by Nirav Sutariya, Consul and Acting Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, and highlighted the 2026 International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” Activities were conducted in line with the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of AYUSH.
The event featured separate sessions for children and adults. Children participated in interactive activities, including Animal Yoga, Surya Namaskar and guided relaxation, while adults practised yoga postures, breathing techniques and deep relaxation exercises designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing.
Around 60 community members attended the celebration, reflecting the growing popularity of yoga and mindfulness in the local community. Organisers said the event strengthened awareness of yoga as a way of promoting health, harmony and balanced living while further reinforcing cultural ties between India and Australia
