Sydney, June 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, with support from the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), organised a vibrant International Day of Yoga 2026 celebration at Parramatta Square in association with the Hindu Federation of Australia, the Australasian Association of Ayurveda, Nature Care Ayurveda, Mita Yoga & Meditation, and Sydney Connexions.
The event centred on the 2026 theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” with participants taking part in gentle yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques aimed at improving mobility, balance and overall wellbeing. The session welcomed people of different age groups and experience levels, encouraging healthy living through regular yoga practice.
The strong community participation reflected the growing popularity of yoga and mindfulness across Sydney. Organisers said the celebration highlighted yoga’s role in promoting physical fitness, mental wellbeing and active ageing while strengthening cultural connections between India and Australia.
The event concluded with appreciation for the instructors, volunteers and community organisations whose support helped make the International Day of Yoga celebration a success.
