Perth, May 11 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

Basava Jayanthi was celebrated with devotion and cultural enthusiasm in Perth on May 9, as the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific – Perth Chapter brought together members of the community to honour the life and teachings of Basavanna.

The celebrations were attended by Poojya Dr Shraddanand Swamiji, who spoke about Basavanna’s philosophy and enduring values. The event was also attended by Consul Naresh Kumar, Dr Jags MLA Riverton, Dr K.B. Nagur and V.S. Teli, along with representatives and presidents of ISWA, WAKS and VTCS.

Families, elders, youth and children participated in the programme, which featured devotional activities, cultural performances, speeches and community interaction centred on the principles of Kayaka and Dasoha advocated by Basavanna.

Organisers said the event highlighted unity, harmony and collaboration within the Indian community in Perth and across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Basava Samiti thanked volunteers, sponsors, performers and community members for their support in making the event successful. Appreciation was also expressed to those involved in organising Dasoha during the celebration.
