High Commissioner of India to Australia Nagesh Singh paid a courtesy call on Vice Admiral Matthew Buckley AM CSC RAN, Chief of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), following his assumption of leadership of the Australian Navy.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong maritime partnership between India and Australia, with the two sides discussing avenues to further strengthen cooperation and engagement between the Indian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.
Singh’s interaction with the Australian Navy chief highlighted the importance attached by both countries to advancing maritime cooperation and deepening engagement between their naval forces.
The meeting forms part of the broader India-Australia strategic partnership, which has continued to expand across defence, security and maritime domains. Closer cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy is an important element of the countries’ efforts to enhance mutual engagement in the maritime sphere.
