In a kaleidoscope of colours and cultural fervour, the Indian community in Perth came together to celebrate the joyous festival of Holi in a traditional extravaganza. The festivities, marked by vibrant Holi songs and spirited dance performances, showcased the rich cultural tapestry of India, with a special focus on the cultural heritage of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The event, aptly named “Hullad,” was a collaborative effort between the Hindi Samaj HSWA, the Uttar Pradesh Awadh Manch WA (UPAM), and the Consulate, captivating attendees with its eclectic mix of music, dance, and cuisine.
From the melodious strains of Faag songs presented by the Lok Sangeet Mandali of UPAM to the lively fusion dance performances set to the folk tunes of Uttar Pradesh, the event offered a glimpse into the diverse traditions and artistic expressions of the region. Community elders from the Sanskriti Seniors group added a touch of humor with their entertaining skit, “Sharmaji ki Holi,” drawing laughter and applause from the audience.
Young talents, including Anvika Srivastava, the Shukla-led Jhankar Group, and artists from the Academy of Indian Classical and Bollywood Dance, dazzled spectators with their energetic performances, seamlessly blending folk and contemporary dance forms to the delight of onlookers.
Poetry enthusiasts were treated to a showcase of wit and satire as community poets recited humorous and thought-provoking verses, earning appreciation from all quarters.
Consul General Amarjeet Singh Takhi commended the efforts of the organizing committees in promoting Hindi language and fostering cultural exchange.
The event was flawlessly hosted by Richa Vinod and Jyotsna Chhabra, whose engaging emceeing added to the festive ambiance and ensured a memorable experience for all attendees.
