The Bihar Jharkhand Sabha Australia & New Zealand (WA Chapter) brought together families and community members for Sharad Milan 2026 (Litti Chokha Utsav) at Woodman Point Reserve, Coogee, celebrating the cultural and culinary traditions of Bihar and Jharkhand.
The event featured the region’s signature dish, litti chokha, along with a range of recreational activities, games and community interactions, creating a festive atmosphere for attendees of all ages.
Consul General of India in Perth Kajari Biswas attended the celebrations and interacted with members of the Indian community, recognising the contribution of regional organisations in preserving India’s diverse cultural heritage in Australia.
Organisers said the annual gathering provided an opportunity for families to strengthen community ties, celebrate their shared heritage and introduce younger generations to the customs, traditions and cuisine of Bihar and Jharkhand.
The event also highlighted the role of cultural associations in promoting regional identity and fostering a sense of belonging among Indian Australians in Western Australia.
