Bhopal, May 9 (IANS) Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV) and attend the silver jubilee celebrations of the scheme in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district on Sunday.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will also attend the programme along with Union Ministers of State Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani and Kamlesh Paswan, and state Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel.

According to an official statement, Union Minister Chouhan will hand over sanction letters and financial approvals for 973 roads covering 2,117 km under PMGSY-IV.

The projects are expected to benefit 987 habitations across the state.

Road projects covering more than 384 km under the PM-JANMAN scheme will also be announced for 168 backward habitations.

The Union Minister is also expected to announce an indicative PMGSY allocation of Rs 18,907 crore for 2026-27, including Rs 830 crore earmarked for Madhya Pradesh.

“Rural roads are not merely a means of transportation, but pathways to prosperity, education, healthcare, markets, employment and a life of dignity,” according to a press note issued by Shivraj Chouhan’s office on Saturday.

The statement said the new projects would improve rural connectivity and help people gain easier access to schools, hospitals and markets.

Later in the evening, Shivraj Chouhan — also the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister — will launch ‘Mama Coaching Classes’ in Vidisha to provide free coaching for competitive examinations to students and youth.

The programme will be launched at the Osho Ashram in Indraprastha Colony.

Students preparing for examinations such as MPPSC, banking, SSC, DRDO and Forest Service recruitment tests will receive free coaching, study materials and career guidance.

“The objective is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of resources,” Chouhan said in a statement.

The statement added that similar coaching centres are planned in Raisen and Bherunda in the coming months.
