The Consulate General of India in Sydney, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and Bandana Cultural School came together to celebrate National Science Week 2026, highlighting the links between science, culture, creativity and environmental awareness.
The programme, held on August 20, was addressed by Acting Consul General of India Nirav Sutariya, who highlighted the significance of science and its contributions in ancient and modern India. He also spoke about the country’s rich scientific heritage and its continuing pursuit of innovation and discovery.
The celebrations featured a range of activities aimed at encouraging children to explore science through creative expression. These included a dance performance on environmental issues, a science-based drama, a tour of a science exhibition and a Science Art and Craft display.
The programme provided participants with an opportunity to explore scientific themes while expressing their creativity and imagination.
The organisers said the initiative encouraged young minds to approach science with curiosity, creativity and a spirit of exploration, while demonstrating the connection between scientific learning, culture and the environment.
