Lucknow, June 16 (IANS) Three members of a family, including a pregnant woman and a minor, were killed during a deadly mishap in Moradabad on Tuesday, after they were hit by a state Roadways bus.

The only survivor is the person who was steering the motorbike and is said to be in critical condition.

A pregnant woman, her three-year-old child and her sister were killed on the spot after the speeding bus ran over them. All three of them were rushed to the hospital but were declared brought dead. Her husband, who also suffered serious injuries, is undergoing treatment and is said to be critical.

The police have impounded the Roadways bus and launched a manhunt for the driver, who fled from the spot after the deadly mishap near the bypass road.

“The accident took place when a Sambhal-based family was going to Nagpur on a motorbike. Junaid, who was driving the bike, is admitted to the hospital while his wife, sister-in-law and daughter succumbed to the injuries,” said a police official.

The heart-wrenching accident created chaos on the road, with locals rushing to the spot to help rescue the stricken family. They, along with policemen, rushed the victims to the nearby hospital, but by the time they reached the hospital, three of them had passed away.

The accident happened near the Gaagan river on the Delhi bypass road, where a speeding and out-of-control roadways bus rammed into their motorcycle, travelling ahead of it, crushing them to death.

The impact was so severe that all four individuals on the motorcycle were flung off to a distance. A three-year-old girl, a young woman named Mantasha, and a woman named Simran died on the spot, while the motorcycle rider, Junaid, sustained serious injuries.

Upon receiving the information, the Katghar police reached the scene and immediately rushed the victims to the district hospital. Doctors declared three of them dead, while the other person was under medical supervision.
