The Victorian Parliament hosted a vibrant Vaishakhi celebration recently, showcasing the rich traditions and cultural diversity of India. The event was attended by parliamentarians Nick Staikos MP, Steve McGhie MP, Luba Grigorovitch MP, Evan Mulholland MP, Sam Groth MP, Viv Nguyen, Victorian Multicultural Commissioner, Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar, and members of the Indian diaspora.
Organized by OESS Incorporated (Organisation to Encourage People and Step Toward Success) and EWIA (Ethnic Women in Australia), the Vaishakhi celebration featured a lively program that included Shabad (Sikh devotional hymns), folksongs, Punjabi Bhangra, and Gidha dances. The event created an atmosphere filled with energy and enthusiasm, highlighting the vibrant culture of India and its traditions.
