A fierce blaze, believed to have been sparked by a gas explosion, is now under control.The blaze at one house has been extinguished.
Another house is still on fire, but under control, with five crews working to extinguish that blaze.
Townsville Bulletin reporter Rachel Riley is at the scene.
“It is understood three people were at home at the time,” she said. “It is also understood those people have suffered minor injuries.”
Neighbours, who rescued several animals, have reported hearing a loud explosion at the time of the fire.
One house has been gutted and another damaged. Other properties are being checked for damage.
Streets around the incident remain closed and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
EARLIER: TWO houses are ablaze and two other properties are being threatened by fire after a suspected gas explosion at Vincent.
Emergency crews were called to Ashton St just after 3pm.
Multiple grass fires have also been reported with police cordoning off both ends of Ashton St.
Police are currently advising residents in neighbourng properties of the situation.
