The Andhra Association of Queensland (AAQ) celebrated the International Day of Yoga with a community wellness event at the Zillmere Community Hall, bringing together residents to promote health, mindfulness and holistic wellbeing.
The yoga session was led by registered yoga teacher and Yoga for Bliss founder Keerthana Somanchi, who guided participants through breathing exercises, stretching techniques, mindfulness practices and stress management. The session was designed to be accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels.
Participants took part in activities aimed at improving physical flexibility, mental clarity and emotional wellbeing while learning practical techniques that can be incorporated into daily life.
The event was sponsored by Vishnu Somanchi, who provided refreshments including fresh juice, fruits and biscuits for participants.
AAQ said the programme encouraged community members to step away from the pressures of daily life and focus on their health in an inclusive and supportive environment. Organisers noted that the event highlighted yoga’s role in promoting physical fitness, emotional resilience and inner balance.
The association thanked Keerthana Somanchi for leading the session and Vishnu Somanchi for supporting the event. AAQ said it will continue organising activities that strengthen community wellbeing, encourage healthy lifestyles and foster cultural connections across Queensland.
