The Australian High Commission in India marked Anzac Day with a Dawn Service followed by a traditional Gunfire Breakfast, bringing together members of the Australian community and dignitaries in the capital.
The ceremony, held in remembrance of the service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand forces, was followed by a gathering where attendees shared a simple meal and reflected on the significance of the occasion.
Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, presented honours to serving personnel during the event. Army attaché Lt Col Fiona Bruce was awarded the Defence Long Service Medal in recognition of her dedicated service.
In addition, Capt RG Upton received the National Emergency Medal (with Clasp) for his contribution during the 2019–20 bushfires in Australia.
Officials noted that the observance of Anzac Day in India reflects the enduring traditions of remembrance upheld by Australians abroad, while also strengthening community ties and shared respect for service and sacrifice.
