High Commissioner of India to Australia Nagesh Singh met Australian Sports Commission Chief Executive Officer Kieren Perkins OAM at the Australian Institute of Sport to discuss expanding sports collaboration between Australia and India.
The meeting reviewed progress on the Australia-India sports cooperation roadmap, announced by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the recent Prime Ministerial visit to Australia.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in sports science, high-performance coaching, sports technology, athlete development and the organisation of major sporting events. Both sides also explored opportunities to deepen institutional partnerships and encourage greater exchange of expertise between sporting organisations in the two countries.
The engagement highlighted the growing role of sport in the Australia-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both countries recognising its contribution to fostering innovation, excellence and stronger people-to-people links.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Australia and India to expanding collaboration across the sporting sector and creating new opportunities for athletes, coaches and sports institutions in both countries.
